History

1990 -

Whitney Jones leaves job as meat cutter and moves from VA to Kitty Hawk, NC to work at a local takle shop. It's here that he learns to build custom fishing rods as an apprentice under the shop owner

1993 -

Whitney opens Whitney's Bait & Tackle in Kitty Hawk, NC

2003 -

Whitney visits Sanibel Island for the first time, falls in love with the area

2004 -

Whitney moves to Sanibel to experience the 12 months of beautiful weather and the great fishing year round. He starts working at a local bait shop. This is when he earned his Captains' license and started exploring the waters of Sanibel & Captiva

2007 -

Whitney goes out on his own and solely does charter

2012 -

Whitney opens Whitney's Bait & Tackle at 1554 Periwinkle Way after noticing the need for a real tackle with quality customer service

2019 -

Whitney's introduces his Sanibel fly fishing department with beautiful display of rods, reels, flies & all the hottest gear you need to catch the fish you're looking for

Today -
